Gold Coast coach Garth Brennan referenced world number one tennis player Ash Barty when discussing his short-term future in charge of the Titans, declaring the sun will still rise if he's shown the door next week.
The Titans will complete an internal review of football operations on Monday with a decision on Brennan's future at the forefront of discussions.
Friday night's 24-2 loss to Brennan's former club Penrith could prove to be the final nail in the coffin after 18 months in the job.
Brennan was honest and realistic about the situation when asked after his side's 12th loss of the season.
"There's a lot more important things in life than coaching rugby league that I look upon and I've lived it with 18 years in the [police force]," Brennan said.
"That's the way I look at it. Do I want to keep my job? Of course I do, but the sun will still come up tomorrow like Ash Barty said the other day, and I move on.
"It's out of my control. I don't speculate or read too much into it. That's for Mal and the board, they'll come up with what's best for the club.
"I love the club and want them to be successful, that won't change regardless of the outcome next week."

The Titans's loss was compounded by injuries to Dale Copley, Jack Stockwell and Ryley Jacks for the encounter.
Copley and Stockwell failed to return from head knocks, while Brennan was left disappointed by Jacks' injury after Josh Mansour kneed his ribs coming into a tackle.
"I'm a bit peed off with that to be honest, [Jacks] put his body on the line and came up with a massive play on the line. He was on the ground and a couple of seconds later a Panthers player came in with his knees and takes him out of the game with a rib injury.
"In saying that I know Josh Mansour he's one of the best guys you'll ever meet so I don't think there was much intent there but it didn't look good."
Meanwhile, Brennan indicated utility Tyrone Peachey may miss a further three weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed earlier in the week a partial pectoral tear.
Brennan denied Peachey was disgruntled at the club and would return to the field by the end of the season.
"We can't risk a full rupture of the pec," Brennan said.
"It's a little bit worse than what it was originally."
