It was a 12-point turnaround that NRL Head of Football Graham Annesley admits match officials got wrong but Titans skipper Tyrone Roberts is adamant his team must respond better when decisions go against them.

Gold Coast coach Garth Brennan said Annesley contacted him to admit the error just hours after the 28-14 loss to the Cowboys after Tyrone Peachey was denied a spectacular length-of-the-field effort 25 minutes into the game and North Queensland lock John Asiata was awarded a try in the 68th minute with the score 16-14 despite taking the ball on the inside of the lead runner in the lead-up.

Brennan spoke of his frustration at the decisions in his post-match press conference and didn't have to wait long for an apology from NRL HQ.

It is cold comfort for a team that is languishing in 15th position on the ladder with two wins from the first eight weeks of the Telstra Premiership and represents another setback that Roberts says his side must handle better.

"It doesn't mean much now. We lose the two points no matter what," Roberts told NRL.com.

"But we can't go into a match thinking we're going to get a couple of rough calls. We've got to keep disciplined and keep our errors down because at the moment we're struggling to defend our errors."

Roberts was forced from the field in the 64th minute after running in the wrong direction following a head clash with teammate Moeaki Fotuaika.

He will be on light training duties up until the captain's run but has no doubt he will run out when the Titans open Magic Round against the Sharks at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night.

Roberts was part of the Warrington Wolves team defeated 38-10 by Wigan during Super League's Magic Weekend at Newcastle's famed St James's Park last year.

The third of four matches on the Saturday that drew a crowd of just under 39,000, Roberts said it was a great chance for fans to celebrate a festival atmosphere over the course of four days in Brisbane.

"For us players it's just a normal game but when you're there the stadium is jam-packed and it's great for the game," Roberts explained.

"We got to Newcastle the day before and we got to see a couple of games before ours. It was good to sit back and see the crowd all come in and having fun.

"Sometimes as a fan you might feel a bit let down if you go to the game and your team doesn't perform too good but with something like this you can watch heaps of teams and get your money's worth for sure."
