Jason Taumalolo is one man that can vouch for the devastating impact Tevita Pangai jnr had in Friday night's big win by the Broncos after being bent backwards in a bone-rattling tackle by the young prop.
Pangai left a trail of destruction at Suncorp Stadium in his 44 minutes, racking up 109 running metres, six tackles breaks and a line break.
The 23-year-old also created the opportunity for Corey Oates to score Brisbane's first try and went over himself for a four-pointer in the 46th minute.
He was just one of several star performers in the Broncos pack on Friday night, with fellow middles Joe Ofahengaue (152m), David Fifita (127m), Jaydn Su'A (126m) and Thomas Flegler (196m) all topping the 100-metre mark.
Brisbane were ranked No.1 in the league in post-contact metres in round two, and ranked second in the league for total metres behind the Eels - whose stats were boosted by two runaway intercept tries in their win over the Bulldogs.
Pangai made his name known last year across the 22 games he started in.
The powerfully-built forward showed plenty of promise in 2018 with performances resembling Friday's effort, but several niggling injuries held him back from maintaining that form and intensity on a weekly basis.
Brisbane coach Anthony Seibold was elated with the Tongan international's display and hopes it wasn't a flash in the pan.
"The challenge for 'T' is to be consistent and back that up week-in and week-out," Seibold said.
"I just want to see him reach his potential and be the best version of himself as a footy player.
"He has done a lot of hard work, and the performance staff have done a really good job to get him in the physical shape that he is in.
"There are some outstanding forwards in the competition and Sam Burgess and Jason Taumalolo come to mind. Certainly Tevita has potential. He'll continue to work hard, but I don't want to overstate where he is at."
