Newly re-signed Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster says he's ready to be a leader in Melbourne following the exit of superstar playmakers Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk in the past 12 months.
Slater retired at the end of the 2018 season while Cronk led the Sydney Roosters to the premiership, and with Melbourne skipper Cameron Smith still not signed on for 2019 Munster looms as the key player for Craig Bellamy's men in the coming years.
The day after signing a contract that will keep him at the Storm through to 2023, Munster said he'd love to finish his career as a one-club player.
"To be honest it was agreed probably a couple of months ago but we left it lying in the wind a bit," he told reporters on Thursday.
"I'm really excited for the new crop of players coming through – really excited about the youth coming through.

"I would really like to be a one-club man but as you know it's a business. They've put their faith in me for the next five years so it's up to me to repay that faith now."
While Munster said he was ready to be a senior figure at the club, he still backed prop Jesse Bromwich to be Smith's eventual successor as captain.

"It'd be nice [be a leader at the Storm] ... It's a big hole for us to be honest, they've been at the club for 15/16 years," Munster said of Slater and Cronk.
"It's not just me but Jesse Bromwich has captained his country so he'd be next in line to captain the club."
