South Sydney Rabbitohs and new Kangaroos captain Greg Inglis has been allegedly charged with drink driving.
Channel Nine reported on Monday night that Inglis was pulled over by police outside Lithgow while driving back to Sydney following the Koori Knockout which was held in Dubbo over the long weekend.
Inglis is alleged to have been in the mid-range drink-driving category and also speeding.
A statement released by NSW Police on Monday night said a Mercedes-Benz was stopped along the Great Western Highway on Monday afternoon.
"Police stopped the car and performed a roadside breath test on the 31-year-old driver, a man from Coogee, which allegedly returned a positive reading," the NSW Police statement said.
"The driver was issued a field court attendance notice for mid-range drink driving and issued a traffic infringement notice for exceed speed."
The NRL Integrity Unit will investigate the matter before a decision is made on whether any action is taken against Inglis.
Inglis was named Australian captain just hours earlier for the October 13 Test against New Zealand. He is scheduled to face court on November 2.
