Raper a one of a kind rugby league legend

In the countdown to the announcement of the 14th Immortal, NRL.com pays tribute to John Raper, one of the original four greats to achieve rugby league's highest honour in 1981.

"Just as well there's not two of him," was a typical comment made by an exhausted opponent after playing against, or partying with, John Raper.

At a time when fans ponder the question of what makes an Immortal, Raper's unique qualities are what qualify him. How could the world of rugby league, or Sydney's nightclub scene, have handled two of him?
