While halfback Ash Taylor leads the NRL in try assists, Titans coach Garth Brennan thinks he still needs more polish around the edges.
In the 30-12 win over the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday afternoon, Taylor had a hand in two of the five tries and scored one himself from a perfectly executed show and go.
Brennan believes his halfback could handle Origin if selected but thinks he still needs time to work on his club combination with new five-eighth AJ Brimson. They have played six games together.
"For Ash, I think he's more than capable of handling that role, you never even know until you get thrown in there," Brennan said.
"He leads the competition with try assists which speaks for itself, to be honest.
"Ash is still working on that balance. I thought he was patchy at times tonight. He came up with some good plays, he ran the ball for that try which is great and when he does that he exciting to watch, but a couple of plays he came up with, he'd probably like to do again."

Taylor, who has been mentioned by commentators as a replacement for Maroons No.7 Ben Hunt in Origin III on July 11, said he was content to bide his time. The Queensland team is set to be named on Monday morning.
"I was extra nervous tonight," Taylor said.
"If I get selected then that's great but I'm not going to dwell on it if I don't, I'm going to keep playing footy.
"I need to be more creative in everything I do and keep working hard on my game.
"But I'm happy at the moment where I am with my team and my role in the team so I'm going to keep doing that."
Titans prop Jarrod Wallace who hasn't had a lot of time on the field in Origin I and II, would dearly love to see out the series under coach Kevin Walters.
"Fingers crossed that I'm there but that will be up to Kevvie and the selectors, Wallace said.
"I obviously played a limited time but I think Kevvie was happy with what I was there for and what I did.
"It's an honour to wear that jersey every game and I just want to wear it for as many games as I can.
"I like to see more time on the field so I can get on the field and play my game. Get my hands on the ball a bit more and just keep working hard and wearing that jersey."
