Winners

Newcastle fullback Kalyn Ponga is the man of the moment and he only seems to be getting better, posting a season-high 89 Fantasy points against a star-studded Melbourne team in Newcastle's 28-10 loss on Sunday.

Ponga scored a try, had two line breaks and made a season-high 14 tackle busts on Sunday ahead of a likely call-up for Queensland's State of Origin team.

Raiders forward Joseph Tapine was the next best in round 15 with 84 points including a tryscoring double against the Wests Tigers on Sunday while Rabbitohs winger Robert Jennings had a wowser of a game with four tries against the Eels and finished with an 82-point effort.

Ryan James backed up last week's 105 with an 80 in the Titans' big win over Canterbury, with Gold Coast fullback Michael Gordon also cashing in with 78 points.

Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves had his best game of the season against Penrith's highly-rated pack, leading his side to victory and earning 77 Fantasy points in the process, while Cameron Munster had two try assists and six tackle busts for the Storm against Newcastle for 73 and Jason Taumalolo carried the Cowboys again for 71.

Adam Reynolds thrived in another big Rabbitohs win for 66, Jai Arrow bounced back after a quiet round 14 score with 62, with Tohu Harris making the same score for the Warriors.

There were also wins of sorts for Fantasy coaches with Harris and Shaun Johnson in their side, as both Warriors stars were left out of Michael Maguire's new-look Kiwis side to face England in next weekend's Denver Test. Warriors coach Stephen Kearney has said he plans to rest all his New Zealand representatives from that game, which would include Issac Luke and Peta Hiku.

Losers

Cowboys and Queensland star Michael Morgan has been ruled out for the season with a biceps injury, which is not only a major blow for North Queensland and Morgan's Fantasy owners but had ramifications elsewhere – with Ponga's odds of becoming an Origin player shortening significantly.

There was mixed Origin news for NSW Blues duo Reagan Campbell-Gillard (broken jaw, 6-8 weeks) and Latrell Mitchell, who was cleared of a neck injury and is now expected to not miss an NRL round.

Elsewhere breakout Broncos star Tevita Pangai jnr suffered a ribs injury, Tigers centre Mahe Fonua suffered a suspected fracture to his forearm, Eels workhorse Nathan Brown suffered a corked arm but should be back next round, the Sharks may lose Luke Lewis to a calf strain but are expecting Josh Dugan back in round 16, Manly lost Moses Suli to a sternum injury while Martin Taupau played on despite suffering a hyperextended elbow, and Billy Slater and Josh Reynolds both withdrew from their teams with hamstring injuries this week.

After a run of good scores Tyrone Peachey finished with just 3 in the Panthers' loss to the Roosters, Adam Doueihi played just 12 minutes for Souths for 7 points, Dylan Napa was cleared of a serious ankle injury but was still kept to 13 points in limited game time, while James Maloney had his lowest score since round 2 with 15.
