Mitchell Moses won't return from a knee injury to face South Sydney after he and Siosaia Vave were the two players dropped from the squad an hour out from kick-off. Manu Ma'u returns to the starting side after missing last weekend's trip to Darwin and Marata Niukore goes back to the bench. Reed Mahony retains his place in the 17 after an impressive debut against the Cowboys. Suaia Matagi and Jaeman Salmon were the two players dropped from the squad 24 hours out from kick-off.

Winger Campbell Graham was left out of the Rabbitohs squad 24 hours out from kick-off, with his spot in the starting side being taken by Hymel Hunt (No.19). Origin stars Greg Inglis, Dane Gagai, Damien Cook and Angus Crichton return, with Cameron Murray and Adam Doueihi moving back to the bench. After Graham and Robbie Farah were the two men left out of the squad 24 hours before game time, Mark Nicholls and Tyrell Fuimaono were omitted an hour out from game time.

Matt Scott's chances of returning to the Queensland Origin team have nosedived after he was a game-day withdrawal. Sam Hoare has been promoted to start in Scott's place. Michael Morgan returns from a groin injury at fullback, while Kane Linnett is back in the starting side. Origin forwards Gavin Cooper and Coen Hess will start after coming off the bench last week and Scott Bolton returns from a rib injury. Ethan Lowe was given the chop an hour before kick-off, while Justin O'Neill and Mitchell Dunn were cut on Thursday.

Blues Origin prop David Klemmer returns to the starting side and Renouf Toomaga goes back to the bench. Rhyse Martin was elevated from the reserves to the interchange bench on Friday at the expense of Renouf Toomaga, while Lachlan Lewis were also cut on Friday.

Great news for the Raiders with Josh Hodgson named to play his first game of the season at hooker after tearing his ACL during last year's World Cup. Jordan Rapana's hamstring injury gives Michael Oldfield his chance on the wing. Joseph Tapine is back from suspension in the second row. Dunamis Lui has also been elevated to the run-on side with Sia Soliola starting from the bench. Emre Guler, Brad Abbey, Jack Murchie and Craig Garvey were cut from the extended squad.
