Melbourne centre Curtis Scott has apologised for punching Dylan Walker in the head during Saturday night's spiteful clash with the Manly star facing six weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed he suffered a fractured eye socket.

The NRL match review committee on Sunday charged Scott with a grade-three striking charge for hitting Walker. He will miss two matches if he submits an early guilty plea but could miss three games if he unsuccessfully challenges the charge at the judiciary.

Scott has received a 28-point discount (one point for each minute he was sent off), otherwise he would have been facing a maximum of four games on the sidelines.

Manly hooker Apisai Koroisau was handed a grade-one striking charge which would result in a one-match ban with an early guilty plea or a maximum of two games.

Walker was not charged for his part in the brawl.

The Storm released a statement via Twitter in which the young centre expressed remorse for his controversial actions which led to referee Henry Perenara sending him off.

"While it doesn't change what happened last night I would like to deeply apologise to my team, Manly and NRL fans for my actions. Not how I want to represent myself, my team, or the game," he said.

The Sea Eagles will have to endure more games without one of their stars after Walker's injury was confirmed on Sunday as a result of the brawl in Saturday night's fiery 24-4 win over Melbourne at AAMI Park.

Walker, who missed the opening month of the Telstra Premiership season following multiple operations on a shoulder and broken ankle, will now miss up to six weeks. Manly did not say whether the 23-year-old would need surgery.

"Scans last night confirmed a sub-orbital fracture to his eye as a result of being punched by Curtis Scott, who was sent off for the incident," the Sea Eagles said.

His teammates felt for him on Sunday but no-one was willing to divulge what Walker said to Scott that seemed to spark the Storm player's reaction.

"I have no idea," said half Trent Hodkinson, in his first game for Manly after transferring mid-week from Cronulla.

Prop Addin Fonua-Blake added: "There was probably a bit of banter there but I wasn't near enough to hear it.

"He [Walker] doesn't look good," Fonua-Blake said referring to the badly swollen left eye.

"But he's still himself; still a real character around the place. It's just disappointing he'll be out for that long."

Walker was also sin-binned over the incident, which was conducted in tandem with an HIA assessment for the hit to his head.

The former NSW State of Origin representative published a photo on Instagram after the game of his injury with the words "Talk shit get hit Well done sir".

He was one of three Manly players sent to the sheds to cool their heels for 10 minutes, alongside hooker Api Koroisau and lock Jake Trbojevic.

As Manly players arrived back at Sydney Airport on Sunday, the thought of not having Walker for at least a month was tempered by the fact the club might have two return from the Sea Eagles injury list for Friday's round 12 match in Canberra.

"It's frustrating for Dylan and us. But there will be plans for moving on. We should be alright," winger Akulia Uate told NRL.com.

"We've got a couple of players coming back in Jorge [Taufua, collarbone] and Jack [Gosiewski, hand] so that will help as well. But we're players and we get on with it whatever is thrown at us."

Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona was also charged by the match review committee but will only incur a fine of $1100-1500 for his careless high tackle on Jake Trbojevic.
