NSW coach Brad Fittler admits Andrew Fifita is a chance of being picked for the Blues despite pledging his allegiance to Tonga.
Fifita won't be eligible to play State of Origin II due to Tonga's Test against Samoa at at Campbelltown during the standalone representative weekend (June 23-24).
But as Tonga is a second-tier nation Fifita is allowed to represent NSW in the other two matches of the series, leading to speculation the in-form prop could be selected for game one.
On Saturday Fittler told Triple M he would give it another week before deciding on whether to include the Sharks star in his side.
"At the start of the season I was very adamant that if he wanted to play for Tonga in Game II, I understand his priorities, but it didn't sit well with me," Fittler said.
"As I'm looking at our team and you start to get injuries, without doubt you start to think - you start to panic and think we might need this and we might need that. I think I need another week.
"I still feel pretty strongly about the decision he made, but I'm going to give it another week.
"Something I've learned from the start of this whole process is things change really quickly, and I've got to say from the team I assumed we might be going to play with in February when I first met with all the coaches, it is a vastly different footy team to now.
"The one thing we do ask (of players), if they keep aiming up for their club we're going to consider them and hopefully give them a chance to play Origin."
