The two referees involved in the controversial Friday night game between the Wests Tigers and Brisbane Broncos have been demoted this weekend, with referees' boss Bernard Sutton also admitting the bunker got a separate call wrong over the weekend.

Sutton told NRL.com that Ashley Klein, who blew the penalty against Tigers forward Robbie Rochow for not being square at marker in golden point, has been demoted to assistant referee.

Matt Noyen, who was assistant referee for the match in Campbelltown last week, has been relegated to touch judge duties for round four in the aftermath of the controversial decision.

Meanwhile, Sutton has admitted the bunker got a call wrong in relation to an obstruction play in the match between the Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs on Friday.

Panthers coach Anthony Griffin was critical of a decision from the bunker to award a try to Moses Mbye despite James Maloney being impeded by Will Hopoate.

Sutton said it should have been no try, however, was comfortable with the decision to disallow a try to Raiders prop Junior Paulo in the nation’s capital on Saturday.
