Storm forward Mark Nicholls during his time at Canberra.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed Storm forward Mark Nicholls for the 2018 season.

Nicholls, 27, has played 28 NRL games since making his debut for the Canberra Raiders in 2012, before shifting south to the Melbourne Storm for the 2017 season.

Nicholls, a prop or second-rower, rose through the junior representative ranks at the Raiders to make his debut against the Dragons, before having his most successful season this year at the Storm. Nicholls represented the Junior Kangaroos in 2010 alongside 2018 Rabbitohs team mate Dane Gagai, and also represented the NSW Cup representative team in 2014.

Rabbitohs coach Anthony Seibold said he was delighted to have Nicholls joining the squad next season.

"Mark is a big body in the middle of the field and he will add depth to our middles," Seibold said.

"He's coming to us from a good system in Melbourne where he played a fair bit of footy off the bench for them this year and he played first grade at the Raiders under David Furner so we know what he is capable of as a player.

"He will add quality and experience to our middles for next season and it's great to have Mark coming on board at South Sydney."
