Manly Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett praised his side's effort in coming from behind to upset the Canberra Raiders 20-18 on Friday night.
Dylan Walker's penalty goal four minutes into golden point handed the visitors a thrilling win despite both sides missing opportunities in the final 10 minutes of the contest.
Two tries midway through the second half got Manly the narrow lead, before they were forced to again come from behind to level the game after regular time with a try to Tom Trbojevic.
"That was a massive win… it's extremely difficult to get two points here so it was a great team effort and a gutsy one," Barrett said post-game.
"They're (Canberra) a very good side and our defence was a lot better than last week.
"Dylan [Walker] is a special player and is born for those sort of moments.
"I thought he'd kick that one but wasn't too confident with the other ones."
Daly Cherry-Evans admitted the nerves crept in when the scores were locked at 18-all, however the skipper was pleased with how well the visitors handled the pressure at various stages of the game.
"It's hard not to be a bit flinch in those situations, to hold them out in clutch periods with a lot of pressure is going to do a lot for our confidence defensively," Cherry-Evans said.
The Sea Eagles have now won three games on the road in two of the toughest road trips for opposing teams in Canberra and North Queensland.
Barrett admitted if the trend of winning away from home continues, the players might be forced to look at their preparation for clashes at Lottoland differently.
"Maybe we should go into camp every game, but it's not in the budget unfortunately," he joked.
"They enjoy spending time together and we can prepare without distractions when we're in a controlled environment.
"You're not going to win every week but I just want that effort and they give it.
"Our starts over the last two weeks weren’t good and we just wanted to be in the game and we did that."
Manly's forwards were instrumental in their two-point victory, only spilling the ball on three occasions and running an extra 450 metres in comparison with the Raiders forward pack.
"I know how Sticky (Ricky Stuart) would be feeling… when you're on the other end of it," Barrett said.
"It was a good game of footy, I thought our forward rotation got us into some good field position.
"All our middles stood up against a massive Raiders pack and needed to."
The Sea Eagles take on South Sydney at Allianz Stadium on Friday night after the Rabbitohs had a thrilling 25-24 loss to the Broncos on Friday night.
