So much can change in a week in the Telstra Premiership.
The Warriors, Dragons, Wests Tigers and Broncos were all riding high following first round victories, while the Sharks, Panthers, Rabbitohs and Knights all headed back to the drawing board.
Fast-forward seven days and those eight sides are now experiencing different emotions from Round 2 of the Telstra Premiership, while the Raiders, Sea Eagles, Titans and Bulldogs are yet to get off the mark.
In the Panthers' case, a demoralising defeat to the Dragons in their opening fixture brought upon early pressure that was quickly turned around when they put the Tigers to the sword on Sunday.
Suddenly, the spotlight turned back onto the joint venture and how so much can change in the space of seven days after the result of one game and the stories that come from it.
"It's definitely a rollercoaster, one that you want more highs than lows," Panthers skipper Matt Moylan said on Monday.
"It's [the mood] a lot different, if you were here last week it would have been very subdued with a lot of disappointed players but this week everyone was happy with their performance.
"You could see with the mood what a week in footy can do."
The high-flying Storm, Eels and Roosters outfits are still experiencing the high Moylan talks about, while the Cowboys have got through two golden point classics to begin their year.
The unpredictability of performances leaves tipsters with plenty of headaches early on while sides are trying to figure themselves out first, let alone the opposition, to start the season.
A first round average of six correct tips for the week quickly drops down to four, bringing everyone back down to earth – as fans you experience the rollercoaster in a different way.
"The first five rounds you don't want to put too much on teams that are coming up with wins and losses," Panthers front-rower James Tamou added.
"It's hard to grasp where teams are at in the first few rounds.
"Obviously the good sides are going to stem away, but it's all about building momentum early."
Teammate Trent Merrin said like every year, fans can expect the same emotions from celebrating with victory to dealing with a loss – it's just who can get through it better and build momentum at the perfect moment.
"There's going to be a lot [of changes] throughout the season," Merrin said.
"The quicker you can build that consistency the quicker you're off [with momentum].
"Every week is a tough task."
And so that brings us to next week, where you would be brave to say the competition doesn’t look as even as ever.
