Bird set for fullback switch

Sharks centre Jack Bird is hopeful of avoiding a trip to the nation's capital in the first week of the finals.

Jack Bird is set to line up at fullback for the Sharks in their Round 2 clash with the Raiders at GIO Stadium on Saturday night.

‌Initially named in the centres, Bird was moved to fullback as part of a backline overhaul announced 24 hours prior to kick-off, with Gerard Beale out of the side with a hamstring complaint.

Kurt Capewell will join the starting side in the centres, with Sam Tagataese also dropping out of the 21-man squad named on Tuesday afternoon.
