Knights recruit Rory Kostjasyn will add experience to a youthful Newcastle side.

Knights recruit Rory Kostjasyn has suffered a pre-season set back, injuring his throat in training on Saturday.

Kostjasyn's injury was sustained following "accidental contact", according to a statement released by the club.

The former Cowboys and Storm dummy-half will miss a minimum of six to eight weeks, placing him in some doubt to line up in Newcastle's opening round clash with the Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium on March 5th.

Danny Levi and Tyler Randell are the players most likely to vie for the starting No.9 jersey in Kostjasyn's absence.
