The Cowboys and Broncos produced another game-of-the-year contender when a Johnathan Thurston field goal once again separated the 2015 grand finalists. The Dragons were controversially beaten by the Rabbitohs while the Sharks bucked their Sea Eagles hoodoo. The Titans went try-for-try with the Panthers before winger Anthony Don's late winner, while the Wests Tigers earned a much-needed win – thanks to the influence of mid-season recruit Elijah Taylor – over an equally desperate Knights outfit in Matt Ballin's first game at his new club.
