Penrith Panthers coach Anthony Griffin said Tyrone Peachey will be available for selection for next weekend's clash with the Parramatta Eels "if he goes to training".
Peachey was dropped from the Panthers' first grade side for their substandard 26-10 loss to the Sharks on Sunday afternoon after a few training-related mishaps, and instead featured in the Intrust Super Premiership on Saturday.
Disappointed by 24-year-old's lacklustre attitude to training throughout the week, Griffin said he had no problem with Peachey who had featured in every game for the Panthers in 2016 before the Sharks clash.
"We could've taken a softer option under the circumstances and slapped him on the wrist with a fine but that's not what we're about," Griffin said.
"He knew better than anyone that he done the wrong thing and he had to pay the price for it.
"It's not a major issue though. I haven't got a problem with Tyrone, he's a great kid, but he's just put himself in the wrong position."
On his side's 16-point defeat, Griffin was rather upbeat when comparing his demeanour following their 34-26 loss to the Wests Tigers in Round 17.
"I thought we were better than last week in our general effort defensively and in our endeavour to some of the key areas we looked at," Griffin said.
"As far as error rates and things like that, they scored a couple of their tries softly so to speak, which we just handed it to them.
"But I thought in general we kept coming all night. We're clearly not where we need to be, we're out of form a bit. But I don't think anyone stopped trying which is the main thing."
"It was 8-6 at half-time and we knew it would take a while to wear them down because they're a really good defensive side," he added.
"I was very happy at half-time, we were obviously a bit disjointed at times with our attack but I thought we put ourselves in the game really well."
Otherwise, fill-in Panthers skipper Peter Wallace was unconcerned over an elbow injury he picked up midway through the first half.
"I just hyper-extended it," Wallace said, who still played the entire 80. "It's the ligament on the inside of the elbow so I'll get a scan [on Monday] and hopefully I should be right."
