It's Thursday and that means another chance at beating your mates and winning $500 by playing NRL Fantasy Match Day Thursday.
Every Thursday brings a whole new game and in Round 6 we have the Broncos taking on the Dragons. All you need to do is pick six players from both teams, select a captain (who will score triple points) and a vice-captain (double points) and see your NRL Fantasy points roll in while watching Thursday Night Footy.
So which six players should you select for tonight's game? Let's take a look at some of the form Fantasy players.
Hooker (HOK)
Brisbane's Andrew McCullough (average Fantasy points 45) and St George Illawarra's Mitch Rein (48) are evenly matched in the HOK position for this week's Match Day Thursday. Rein has slightly higher stats as he plays an average of 74 minutes per game opposed to McCullough's 60 minutes. Rein averages 68 run metres and 43 tackles per game while McCullough runs for 37 metres and makes 39 tackles on average. If you think the Dragons are going to be doing a lot of defence in this game then Rein could be the way to go. The other HOK options are Kodi Nikorima (average Fantasy points 26) and Siliva Havili (17) both coming off the bench.
Front-row forward (FRF)
There are plenty of options at FRF but the two stand-outs are Jack de Belin (52) and Josh McGuire (50). These two workhorses make plenty of metres and tackles and have been impressive NRL Fantasy performers over the first five rounds. De Belin has been playing at lock for the Dragons and is a dual position player in NRL Fanatsy, available for selection at FRF and 2RF. Outside of those two, Mike Cooper (39), Leeson Ah Mau (33), Russell Packer (32), Adam Blair (31) and Sam Thaiday (30) could all be good points of difference at FRF for your Match Day Thursday team.
Second-row forward (2RF)
Two Broncos lead the way here with Matt Gillett (56) and NRL Fantasy legend Corey Parker (53) just ahead of Dragons dual position player Jack de Belin (52). Gillett plays 80 minutes and gets through a lot of work on the edge for the Broncos while Parker continues to be a tackling machine. Other options at 2RF are Tyson Frizell (47) and Alex Glenn (39), who plays on the opposite edge to Gillett for the Broncos. Brisbane winger Corey Oates (39) can be selected at 2RF or WFB, and Mike Cooper (38) is also a dual position player, although he is named on the bench for the Dragons.
Half (HLF)
The Dragons' attacking woes are highlighted in their halves' NRL Fantasy scores with Benji Marshall averaging 39 Fantasy points per game and Gareth Widdop 32. In contrast, Broncos playmaker Anthony Milford is averaging 57 Fantasy points per game and his partner in crime Ben Hunt averages 49 so far in 2016. Milford or Hunt look the way to go here, but Marshall could be a good point of difference if you think the Dragons can break their shackles tonight.
Centre (CTR)
Centre can be a tough position to select for in NRL Fantasy but there are two superstars available in Match Day Thursday tonight. Broncos speedster and dual position player James Roberts averages 42 Fantasy points per game, although he struggled with a hip injury in the second half against the Titans last week. Dragons fullback Josh Dugan (39) is also a dual position player and can be selected at CTR. Dugan's Fantasy scores have increased since moving from centre to fullback on the field and could be an astute selection in your team. Other CTR options tonight include Euan Aitken (38), Tim Lafai (27), Jack Reed (27) and Jordan Kahu (17).
Wing-Fullback (WFB)
As mentioned above, you can get both James Roberts and Josh Dugan into your Match Day Thursday team as both are dual position players available at CTR and WFB. Two of the best try-scoring wingers are also solid options at WFB in Jason Nightingale (41) and Corey Oates (39). Broncos fullback Darius Boyd (30) is also finding some form and could be a great point of difference at WFB if you feel he will rake in the attacking stats against the Dragons.
There is no salary cap in Match Day Fantasy so you can pick any six players in their respective positions. Once you've selected your team set up a League with your friends or work colleagues and play Match Day Thursday every week. Pick your team on Thursday and win bragging rights by Friday.
