Brisbane recruit James Roberts is quickly making an impression at his new club.
The 22-year-old has impressed coaches and players alike with his enthusiasm and work ethic, slotting seamlessly into the Brisbane squad.
The lightning quick centre joined Brisbane at the end of the 2015 NRL season after a contract dispute at the Gold Coast Titans.
It is his fourth NRL club after a rocky start to his career in which off-field dramas plagued the up-and-coming star.
It hasn't taken long for Roberts to make an impact at his new club, with the Dally M Centre of the Year recently picked in the Brisbane squad to travel to London in preparation for their World Club Series clash against the Wigan Warriors on Saturday February 20.
Brisbane teammate Jordan Kahu was full of praise for Roberts and the impact he has made in just a few short months at the club.
"James has been going really well – he's training so hard and he's pretty enthusiastic when he's around the boys," said Kahu.
"He's slotted in pretty easily and got along with everyone really well and I think he's enjoying it.
"You've seen over the last couple of years what he can bring on the footy field. He brings a spark and creates stuff out of nowhere – his speed and strength create so many opportunities.
"It's really good to have him in the side and it'll be awesome to have someone that can keep up with Milf [Anthony Milford]."
Kahu played against Roberts in the World All Stars 12-8 win over the Indigenous All Stars last weekend.
It was a modest performance for Roberts' high standards, as Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker kept him relatively quiet.
Although Kahu enjoyed taking on his new teammate, he was glad the future NSW origin representative didn't have a big game.
"Playing against him was pretty fun and a great opportunity," said Kahu.
"Thankfully he didn't make too many breaks and I didn't have to try and tackle him one-on-one.
"Being able to play with and against some of the boys that are normally my teammates at the Broncos is pretty special – it was a pretty special weekend."
