Finals Week One Results:
Storm 20 defeated Roosters 18
Bulldogs 11 defeated Dragons 10 in golden point extra time
Broncos 16 defeated Cowboys 12
Sharks 28 defeated Rabbitohs 12
Much to the angst of Trent Robinson it was the Storm who'd be the first team to qualify for week three of the finals series when they outwrestled the Roosters out of the contest. With Robinson expressing his disappointment in Melbourne's tackling technique at game's end, the minor premiers would once again fail to earn the week off in the finals. The Sharks ended reigning premiers South Sydney's season with a huge win despite having to almost make do without Andrew Fifita who was gambled to overcome back spasms suffered in the warm-up. The Broncos held out the Cowboys to also earn a week off, while the Bulldogs had to take it to golden point to down the Dragons who had to make do without Benji Marshall for much of the second half.
