Their loss to the Sea Eagles was the beginning of the end for the Rabbitohs with the reigning premiers eventually slumping to their fifth loss in six rounds to be ousted in the first week of the finals. The Dragons furthered the Warriors' woes in the post-Shaun Johnson segment of their season by keeping them scoreless. The Eels outlasted the Panthers in Darwin, and the Sharks beat the Cowboys – who this time around were with their fearless leader Johnathan Thurston. The Knights' mini comeback wasn't enough to pip the Roosters, leaving them at the bottom of the NRL Telstra Premiership ladder, while the Bulldogs scored a win against the Broncos.
