More than 10,000 tickets to Game I of the 2015 Holden State of Origin Series at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium have been sold since general public tickets went on sale on Tuesday.
NSW VB Blues coach Laurie Daley and halfback Trent Hodkinson have joined Santa Claus aboard his sleigh at ANZ Stadium as they urge fans to get in quick for tickets to the opening game.
The NSW VB Blues will kick off their bid for back-to-back series wins when they host the Queensland XXXX Maroons at ANZ Stadium on May 27.
In the two days since tickets went on sale to the general public, NSW VB Blues fans have rushed to snap up what is the perfect Christmas gift.
“The support we received from New South Wales fans this year was tremendous and I really encourage them to get behind us again by purchasing their tickets to Game I to help kick off what we hope will be another fantastic series for us,” Daley said.
“Origin is always an exciting time for Rugby League fans so you can’t go wrong if you give the gift of an Origin experience this Christmas.”
Trent Hodkinson scored a try and converted it himself as the NSW VB Blues won Game II in Sydney this year 6-4 to wrap up the series. The Bulldogs halfback is desperate to be back out there in front of a home crowd in Sydney on May 27, 2015.
“The atmosphere at ANZ Stadium during and after that game was electrifying and a moment in my career I will never forget,” Hodgkinson said.
“It was an amazing feeling to end the drought and be able to take the trophy back to our fans this year and hopefully we can do it again in 2015.
“We are so grateful for the support we get from our fans and we want to have as many NSW VB Blues supporters there as possible for Game I.”
NRL Head of Commercial Paul Kind said: “Following a fantastic 2014 series with NSW securing their first title in 9 years, it is fitting that Holden State of Origin 2015 kicks off in Sydney.
“More than 83,000 fans filled ANZ Stadium last year we look forward to an exciting series opener in Sydney next May.

Game II of the 2015 series will be held on June 17 - at the MCG for the first time in 18 years. Tickets are already available via Ticketek.
Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium will then host Game III on Wednesday 8 July with ticketing details yet to be announced.
