NSW and Roosters great Brad Fittler says exiled superstar Blake Ferguson is fit as a fiddle and ready to resume his rugby league career.

Ferguson has been hitting the track with the Roosters after being cleared to return to training by the NRL earlier this month, a signal that the fallen NSW hero could be in line for a 2015 return.

The NRL has not yet given any indication it will re-register Ferguson, who served an 18-month ban after being sacked by the Canberra Raiders and charged with indecent assault following an incident at a nightclub in Cronulla.

But Fittler, who has had a long association with Ferguson through the Blues, is confident the 24-year-old has put his troubled past behind him.

"I've been down to the club a fair bit and seen him," Fittler told SportsFan's Bill Woods.

"He looks extremely fit. He seems to be in a good environment at the moment and a good headspace."
