Canberra's Sam Williams will join Melbourne playmaker Gareth Widdop in the halves for the Dragons in 2014

The Canberra Raiders will welcome back local junior Sam Williams for the 2015 NRL season with the current Catalans Dragons halfback signing for two years.

Williams left the club at the beginning of this season to join the St George Illawarra Dragons, but spent the majority of his time with the Illawarra Cutters side before making a mid-season move to France.

Having already played 42 games for Canberra, Williams says he is excited about returning to where it all began.

"The Raiders are my home club with some of my best mates and a club I've always wanted to see successful, so I'd love to be a part of any success we have in the future," Williams said.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity to work hard to try and earn a place in the team next season."
