Confidence is on the rise inside the Broncos' stable according to Alex Glenn in the wake of Brisbane's impressive 36-10 victory over a lacklustre Sea Eagles side under the Suncorp Stadium sunshine.
Playing their first Sunday afternoon match of the season, the Broncos rarely looked troubled against the Sea Eagles who were without big names Anthony Watmough, Daly Cherry-Evans and Glenn Stewart.
An opening three-try blitz inside the first 15 minutes laid the foundation for a rare Broncos' victory over the Silvertails, who had won the previous four fixtures between the two sides.
The comfortable 26-point margin chalked up three-straight victories for the Broncos who are beginning to hit a canter on the field despite lingering concerns off the turf.
Having played in all of Brisbane's 12 matches so far this season, back-rower Alex Glenn has noticed a gradual rise in confidence amongst the playing group.
"We've been working really hard and we've been having some very close matches over the last couple of weeks so to get a great win in front of our home crowd against a quality side gives us a lot of confidence," Glenn said.
"We've got to always be confident in our own ability. We look across the field and see that there is so much ability in this team so it's just a matter of everyone building that confidence off each other.
"We're developing that skill week in, week out and we've just got to keep building from it."
Glenn also highlighted the continued progression of halfback Ben Hunt, who he says is thriving in his role as the Brisbane's chief playmaker.
"Obviously he's the key ball-player in our team so when he builds and starts playing some good consistent football we all lift off that," he said.
"It's great to see him getting his confidence back. He hasn't had many minutes in the last three years so for him to be playing the full 80 minutes and directing our play is great to see.
"He's loving his footy at the moment and when you've having good fun out on the footy paddock you play your best football."
The gutsy display from returning Origin stars Corey Parker and Matt Gillett also drew praise from the Kiwi international.
"[The Origin period] is always tough in our year. We always lose a couple of Origin players but with the likes of Corey and Matty backing up just shows the character in those two boys and how much this club means to them," he said.
The 25-year-old also highlighted the successful return from injury of back-row partner Sam Thaiday, who had been out of action since Round 6 and will now be targeting a return for the Maroons in Origin Two on June 18.
"Sammy's a true professional. He's been in the game for a long time so he knows what he's got to do to get back in that [Origin] team and he'll be doing everything he can to get back into that Queensland side," Glenn added.
"Everyone knows how Sammy plays – he's very aggressive and gets us going forward and he brings a lot to our team. He had a really strong game on his first game back and I know he was very excited to get out there in front of the boys.
"It was great to have him back and he delivered a lot of punch in our attack which was great and also some stability in our defence."
