Game One of this year's Holden State of Origin Series marks the 100th clash between fierce rugby league rivals New South Wales and Queensland. 21. Game 3, 2011 Thurston returns to the field to celebrate in a wheel chair

Darren Lockyer's final match in state colours proved to be a bittersweet one for his halves partner Johnathan Thurston, who he was floored by a serious knee injury in a tackle on Blues forward Anthony Watmough in the 56th minute. In the aftermath of the Maroons 34-24 win, which kept the shield north of the Tweed for a sixth consecutive year, Thurston provided the game with an enduring image when he joined his teammates, wheelchair and all to celebrate the victory.
