You would think after spending seven seasons at a club in which you played 127 games and developed into a cult hero, coming up against your old side would hold a strange feeling.
But for George Rose, playing against Manly has already become commonplace.
Saturday night will be the seventh game of the season for Rose and already the third time he will face his old club.
The jovial prop played in Melbourne's thrilling Round 1 win at Brookvale Oval and again a month later for the Storm's NSW feeder team Cronulla.
If the 31-year-old had strange feelings coming up against his old side he has certainly had plenty of opportunities to get over it.
"The first game was obviously very strange but I have done it again since then at Brookvale… this is just going to be another game against them," Rose said.
"It is something I'm getting used to, I am playing them pretty much every second week!"
Rose was a cult hero among Manly fans and was a part of the club's 2011 premiership side.
He has enjoyed similar adoration among Storm fans and, having experienced both sides of this gripping rivalry, has a better understanding than most as to what it means when these two teams meet.
"I know how much the Storm game means to Manly every year, it is always one that is earmarked on the calendar and it is always a game they get up," he said.
"To be the best you want to beat the best and that is how both teams want to take it each time.
"Both teams absolutely hate each other so it's something that brings out the best for both teams and I think it is going to be a cracker on Saturday night."
A month ago speculation was circling surrounding Rose's future at the Storm as he battled homesickness but the big man come to see the brighter side to living in the southern state.
"I am very close with my family, I do miss them quite a lot but if anything I get to experience Melbourne for at least a year," said Rose.
"I like it down here and I get back [home] more than enough to get my fair share."
Ever the showman, he admitted to having some reservation about the Melbourne months to come.
"I am a little bit scared about this winter that is coming up, the temperature is starting to drop and I'm not much of a trainer when it comes to cold weather," he said.
"I am just going to try and hang in over these winter months but I am enjoying my footy so that makes everything worthwhile.
"I have worked out the trams, I've got my Myki card so it has been pretty good."
Big George will be hoping to get the better of his old side once again when the Storm host the Sea Eagles at 7.30pm this Saturday night at AAMI Park.
