There are some contests in rugby league where form always seems to go out of the window, and that is ever more true than when observing the perplexing hoodoo the Raiders hold over St George Illawarra.
Will the hoodoo return in 2014? And perhaps the more fascinating question is: will the burgeoning line-up of ex-Raiders wearing the Red V make a difference to the longest club v club losing streak in the NRL?
The Dragons' last win over the Green Machine came back in 2007 at WIN Stadium, with nine straight losses since. Their last win in the nation's capital was all the way back in the year 2000.
But with former Raider Bronson Harrison joined by Josh Dugan in mid-2013, and now in the new season by Sam Williams and Joel Thompson, will the Canberra connection finally be able to break the stranglehold?
Star Raiders centre Jarrod Croker is one who can't wait until that Round 23 meeting to find out.
"When the draw is announced each year one of the first things that you often look for here at the Raiders is when we're playing the Dragons," Croker said.
"There's a strong rivalry between both sides and it's always a hard fought and tightly contested affair with a lot of passion and pride involved.
"The 'hoodoo' term gets bandied about a lot when we play the Dragons and I'm glad that it has been working in our favour. From a player's perspective, you don't want to be a part of the side that lets the 'hoodoo' slip. We want it to keep going for as long as possible.
"There will certainly be an extra amount of spice this year also given that there will be so many ex-Raiders in the Dragons line-up for 2014. I can't wait for the clash."
