Members of the World Cup-winning Jillaroos will be presented to the crowd of more than 83,000 Rugby League fans at tomorrow night’s 2013 Holden State of Origin Series decider at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.
The Jillaroos, who beat New Zealand to win their first Rugby League Women’s World Cup in the UK on Sunday, will take centrestage before Jessica Mauboy launches her new single ‘To The End Of The Earth’ in the build-up to one of the most anticipated Origin matches in history.
Mauboy is scheduled to perform after 7.40pm, with the NSW VB Blues and QLD XXXX Maroons kicking off at 8.10pm following the curtain-raiser between the VB NSW Cup representative Squad and XXXX QLD Residents. Gates open at 5.30pm.
Mauboy’s performance will cap a spectacular match-day experience for fans who are invited to be part of the biggest ever pre-game Origin party for supporters of both teams starting from 4pm. Thirty cafes, bars and restaurants will be open in Sydney Olympic Park, all themed in blue.
Blues fans have been encouraged to cheer on the NSW VB Blues team bus as it makes its way down Olympic Boulevard from the Pullman Hotel to ANZ Stadium from 6-6.15pm.
The NSW Government’s strategic partnership with the NRL, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, has delivered seven State of Origin matches over the next five years for Sydney and NSW.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, said, “Between 2013 and 2017, the State of Origin games will contribute over $65 million to the NSW economy, including visitor spend by overseas, interstate and intrastate visitors.”
