NRL clubs and administrators will wear white ribbons today, demonstrating the game’s ongoing commitment to the national White Ribbon Day campaign to end violence against women.<br><br>Today, White Ribbon Day, marks the UN Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the beginning of a national campaign to encourage at least 1 million Australian men and boys to swear an oath to take positive action to end violence against women, at www.myoath.com.au.<br><br>The ‘My Oath’ campaign already has the support of the game’s White Ribbon Ambassadors including David Gallop, Tim Sheens, Hazem El Masri and a host of other coaches and players, as well as the Dragons, Knights, Bulldogs, Raiders, Broncos, Titans, Eels and Tigers, who are among the NRL clubs holding White Ribbon activities this month.<br><br>NRL Chief Executive David Gallop said the NRL is calling on all fans to sign up and ‘swear’ to end violence against women, as the first step to actively voicing their commitment to address the issue.<br><br>“One of the most important aims of White Ribbon Day is to urge men to speak out about the issue by swearing the oath never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women,” Mr Gallop said.<br><br>“I will be urging the 80-plus players, coaches, referees and administrators attending today’s NRL Football Conference to take the oath and strongly encourage all men across the game to do the same and work towards creating a society where violence against women is universally unacceptable.”<br><br>Rugby league fans are encouraged to support the White Ribbon Day campaign by swearing at <b><a href="http://myoath.com.au/">www.myoath.com.au</a></b> and buying a white ribbon or wristband today. <br><br>For more information visit <b><a href="www.whiteribbonday.org.au/">www.whiteribbonday.org.au.</a></b>
