Biography
A premiership winner with the Bulldogs as a 21-year-old in 2004, Thurston headed north to Townsville the following season and guided the Cowboys into their maiden grand final which they lost to Wests Tigers.
The gifted playmaker would go on to play a club record 294 games for North Queensland, delivering them a premiership in 2015 with a cooly taken golden point field goal to sink the Brisbane Broncos in one of the finest grand finals of the modern era.
Johnathan Thurston's NRL tribute
Thurston played 37 Origins for Queensland between 2005-17 and was a key member of the side that won eight series straight to create a dynasty that will never be bettered. He holds the record for the most consecutive Origin appearances with 36, not missing a match between his debut in Game One 2005 and Game Three 2016.
