Biography

Benji Marshall changed the way we think of Rugby League players. Born in Whakatane, New Zealand and from a touch football background, he debuted for Wests Tigers while still at school, before leading merged outfit to its first ever Grand Final victory in 2005, via an audacious and iconic flick pass to his winger Pat Richards.

Benji Marshall's most iconic NRL moments

The fact that Marshall was able to play 346 matches over his career – for Wests Tigers, St George Illawarra, Brisbane and Souths – despite significant injury challenges, is testament to his toughness and determination.

Marshall also played 31 Test matches for New Zealand, 19 of them as Captain, and won the World Cup with the Kiwis in 2008.
