National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day

Every year National Sorry Day takes place on May 26th.

The National Rugby League acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as "The Stolen Generations".

We acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. while this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We cannot begin to fix the problems of the present without accepting the truth of our past We encourage our Rugby League fans and communities to take a moment to reflect, learn and listen.

The healing foundation is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that addresses the experiences of Stolen Generations and survivors by working with First Nation communities to create a safe space to tell their own stories.

Acknowledgement of Country

National Rugby League respects and honours the Traditional Custodians of the land and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on.
