Wade Graham's State of Origin debut for New South Wales is in doubt after he was charged with a grade one careless high tackle by the NRL match review committee.
Graham was charged over a 64th-minute high shot on Johnathan Thurston during Cronulla's Round 14 NRL Telstra Premiership win over the Cowboys on Monday night.
The charge would normally not amount to a ban but with 50 per cent loading from a prior similar offence and 33 carry-over points to his name, Graham is pleading not guilty and will need to be successful at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night in order to be avaialble for NSW.
The base penalty for a grade one high tackle is 75 points. With Graham's prior similar offence in the last two years, the base penalty gets a 50 per cent loading, taking it up to 112.5 points. An early guilty plea gets a 25 per cent discount, taking the points down to 84. But Graham's 33 carry over points from a prior offence takes his points up to 117. A one-game ban is 100 points.
