Super League Man of Steel Sam Tomkins is confident that he will play a pivotal role in England’s quest for international glory, when the national outfit take on France and Wales starting later this month in the Autumn International Series.

Tomkins, who sustained a knee injury in the Super League play-offs last month with his club side Wigan Warriors, is receiving intense treatment on a daily basis from the England medical team whilst the national team train at high-altitude in South Africa. The dynamic full-back believes he has every chance of pulling on an England jersey during the upcoming tournament.

“I am doing all I can to be fit for the opening match against Wales in the next couple of weeks,” said Tomkins.

“It is a hard slog in rehab and can get frustrating when you see the other boys on the field training when you just want to be out there with them.

“I have to be patient and continue to put in the hours with the medical team and conditioners if I want to be part of the internationals this year. I could’ve quite easily stayed back in England and ruled myself out but that was not an option for me. I love being part of the England set-up and more importantly playing for my country is the biggest of accolades.”

England’s opening match in the Autumn International Series will see them face Wales at the Glyndwr University Racecourse Ground in Wrexham on Saturday October 27/

Their first ‘home’ fixture takes place a week later, Saturday November 3, at MS3 Craven Park in Hull when England host France in a match which also kicks off at 2.30pm.

The Autumn International Series concludes with the final at Salford City Stadium on Sunday November 11.
