The Melbourne Storm have continued their golden run with a 46-0 win over the Roosters on Saturday night to make it seven victories on the trot in 2016.
It was a record-breaking night for the Melbournians with the Storm recording their biggest ever win over the Tricolours and holding them scoreless for the first time.
The night started poorly for the home side with a Daniel Tupou error in the second play the ball of the game and things didn't get much better against a Melbourne side that completed at 95 per cent.
Even without five-eighth Blake Green (calf) the Storm were never troubled by a Roosters side that included a supposedly injured Latrell Mitchell (ankle).
Finishing was the difference on the night with the Storm clinically converting their opportunities while the Tricolours missed several chances that they normally would have taken.
Storm fullback Cameron Munster was simply outstanding for the 2012 premiers setting up three tries, scoring one himself and running for a whopping 214 metres, while rookie sensation Suliasi Vunivalu had a night to remember scoring his first career treble.
Melbourne's Fijian connection on the flanks combined to get them on the board inside the opening 10 minutes with Vunivalu crossing after countryman Marika Koroibete had earlier broken trough from a kick return.
Things got better for the flying Fijian with the combination of Munster and Ryan Morgan again linking up to send Vunivalu over for his fifth double of 2016.
The Roosters should have halved the deficit 12 minutes before the break but Blake Ferguson inexplicably dropped the ball after tripping over his own feet with the line wide open.
It was a mistake that was always going to haunt the Tricolours and from the very next set Kevin Proctor charged onto a perfectly timed pass from Munster to hit and spin his way over the line to make it 18-0.
It took 15 minutes for the Storm to increase their lead in the second stanza with the ever-improving Dale Finucane offloading late to Cheyse Blair who attacked the line with vigour to score his third try in Melbourne colours.
The scoreboard attendant had barely finished updating the figures when he was thrust into action again courtesy of the move of the night.
Melbourne delved deep into their attacking arsenal to put on a picture-perfect play to make it 28-0 with the Queensland connection of Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk combining to put Munster in space before the future Maroons star positioned his halfback to score under the posts.
The Storm No.7 doubled his tally barely five minutes later before Munster strolled over shortly after for a thoroughly deserved try to make it 40-0.
There was still time for one more Storm celebration as Vunivalu gleefully accepted a pinpoint cut-out pass from his fullback to dive over in the corner to complete his first career hat-trick.
