Poor errors capitalised on by a good football side.
That was the assessment made by Raiders coach Ricky Stuart following his side's 28-14 loss to the Storm at AAMI Park.
Canberra recovered from a slow start that saw them concede two tries and 60 per cent of possession in the opening 15 minutes.
But a two-point halftime deficit quickly blew out as Melbourne piled on three second-half tries in the space of 16 minutes to put the result beyond doubt.
After a hot run of form Jarrod Croker was poor for much of the game.
With the result beyond doubt Croker went on a 70-metre run to score after intercepting a Cooper Cronk pass which buttered up the stat sheet, but he showed little of the spark he had provided in the last month.
After a Man of the Match performance against the Titans, Anthony Milford was also also kept quiet with just 87 metres and six missed tackles for the night.
The Raiders committed a total of 12 errors for the game, many in crucial areas of the field.
It was an aspect of the stat sheet coach Ricky Stuart was keen to highlight after the 80 minutes.
"We can't give good football teams like Melbourne easy scoring opportunities," said Stuart.
"It happened off our errors in the first segment of the first half and it happened in the second segment of the second half.
"We haven't got the ability to bounce out of that, just giving class teams like that easy tries."
Captain Terry Campese was quick to shoulder the blame for his part in the loss.
With the score line at 10-14 the Raiders enjoyed a good bit of possession at the beginning of the second half.
With a promising move building it was Campese's dropped ball that would prove the turning point as the Storm went on to score the next three tries of the match.
"It was my silly drop that gave them the ball when we had two repeat sets," said Campese.
"That isn't good enough from my position especially when we had them on the back foot.
"I can't feel bad enough for Feno [Shaun Fensom]. He puts in every week for us, it was his 100th game and I am filthy on myself on his behalf."
The Green Machine has plenty of time to lick its wounds before taking on the Rabbitohs next Monday night.
