The Australian Prime Minister's XIII got their first look at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby in their only training session before the match against the PNG PM's XIII.
The team trained well, in stifling conditions mid-morning, and the training session was followed by a coaching clinic with almost 400 school children from local schools in Port Moresby.
In the afternoon, the team travelled to the Bomana War Memorial (part of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission), where more than 3,500 Australians are buried, with an average age of 22.
The Memorial marks the spot where the most amount of Australians killed in any war are buried, in the one place. It was a moving experience, with Australian Rugby League Commission Chair, John Grant, joining coach Mal Meninga and captain Greg Inglis to lay a wreath and mark a moment's silence.
Hundreds of locals peered through the fence around the memorial, hoping to catch a glimpse of their heroes and the team obliged by meeting the locals, with hands and arms thrust through the fence to high-five the team.
