We rate the performances of all 34 players involved in the 2013 NRL Grand Final, won by the Sydney Roosters 26-18 at ANZ Stadium.
ROOSTERS
1. Anthony Minichiello
Showed great support play and awareness to lay on Shaun Kenny-Dowall's try and was typically safe at the back. 7.
2. Daniel Tupou
The towering winger showed off his superb aerial ability to bring down James Maloney's bomb for the Roosters' first try. Combined with Michael Jennings to deny David Williams with a try-saving tackle in the early stages and was safe as houses defusing bombs on his own line. 8
3. Michael Jennings
Showed desperation and pure speed to score the match-winning try, pouncing on a James Maloney grubber kick that had seemed destined for the dead-ball line. Was otherwise kept quiet. 8.
4. Shaun Kenny-Dowall
Scored the try that gave the Roosters the lead midway through the second half and showed real toughness to play much of the game with a suspected broken jaw. 7.
5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
The NRL Winger of the Year looked dangerous early on and made 132 metres from 18 carries, but didn't get the chance to cause much damage in open play. 7.
6. James Maloney
Sent an early clearing kick out on the full but bounced back to set up three tries. He laid on his team's first with a pinpoint bomb, made a line break to set up Shaun Kenny-Dowall's four-pointer, kicked the grubber that led to Michael Jennings' try and kicked four goals from as many attempts. 9
7. Mitchell Pearce
Helped the Roosters control field position with a solid performance, albeit one in which he rarely threatened in attack. 7.
8. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
Not the dominant force he has been in recent times but contributed 15 hit-ups and a couple of offloads. 7.
9. Jake Friend
Drew the penalty that led to the tricolours' opening try and was the Roosters' busiest defender with 31 tackles. 7.5.
10. Sam Moa
Effective in both attack and defence, with 11 hit-ups for 97 metres plus 27 tackles. 8.
11. Aidan Guerra
Bombed a great try-scoring opportunity in the first half but made up for it by cruising through a gap to score in the second term. 6.5.
12. Sonny Bill Williams
His knock-on 15 metres from the Roosters' line led directly to Manly's opening try and he was kept quiet in the first half, but Sonny Bill showed his class when it mattered by sending James Maloney clear with a terrific offload to set up the Roosters' third try and making the line break that led to their fourth. He finished with a game-high 141 metres gained from 14 carries, plus six tackle busts and two offloads. 8.5.
18. Boyd Cordner
Very solid in defence all night and did all the little things right. 7.
13. Frank-Paul Nuuausala
Had a limited impact after being bumped to the interchange bench by the returning Boyd Cordner. 5.
14. Daniel Mortimer
Added some spark from dummy-half but didn't have much chance to make an impact on the game. 4.
15. Mitchell Aubusson
Tackled Jamie Lyon without the ball to concede a penalty try at the start of the second half but was otherwise effective in defence when he got on the park. 6.
23. Luke O'Donnell
Return to the Roosters lineup and added some welcome aggression off the bench. 6.
SEA EAGLES
1. Brett Stewart
Sent Steve Matai over for Manly's third try and was his usual dangerous self on the fringes. 7.
2. Jorge Taufua
Made no mistake to touch down for Manly's first points and finished with two line breaks, three tackle busts and 13 carries for 141 metres. 7.5.
3. Jamie Lyon
Rock-solid in defence but didn't have his usual impact in attack. 7.
4. Steve Matai
Scored one try, provided a couple of line-break assists and produced arguably the hit of the game to force an error from Aidan Guerra midway through the second half. 8.
5. David Williams
Repeatedly failed to challenge Daniel Tupou in the air and gave his team plenty of scares in defence whenever the Roosters sent bombs towards his corner. Grassed a tough chance to score with 12 minutes left. A night to forget. 5.
6. Kieran Foran
His tackle forced the error from Sonny Bill Williams that led to the Sea Eagles' first try and he was typically aggressive in attack with five tackle breaks. 7.
7. Daly Cherry-Evans
After a quiet first half Cherry-Evans got the Sea Eagles back into the contest, making a couple of line breaks at the start of the second term and rolling in the grubber kick that led to Jamie Lyon's penalty try. A great effort to win the Clive Churchill Medal in a losing side. 9.
8. Brenton Lawrence
Dragged Daniel Tupou into his own in-goal to force a drop-out early on and contributed nine hit-ups and 25 tackles in an error-free performance. 7.5.
9. Matt Ballin
Topped the tackle count as usual and made four sharp runs from dummy-half, with a couple of penalties the only negatives. 7.5.
10. Brent Kite
Led the go-forward from the Manly pack with 15 carries for 126 metres. 7.5.
11. Anthony Watmough
The best of the Manly forwards with 14 hit-ups, six tackle busts, three offloads, 37 tackles and no errors. 8.5.
12. Justin Horo
Played his role with eight hit-ups and 26 tackles but made no significant impression on the match. 6.5.
13. Glenn Stewart
Went down injured from the opening tackle of the match but recovered to play the bulk of the game, even if he didn't create many scoring opportunities in attack. 6.
14. David Gower
Only contributed a single run and one tackle in a brief cameo. 2.
15. Jamie Buhrer
Made a solid impact off the bench, with 68 metres from six carries and 23 tackles. 7.
16. Tom Symonds
Had a limited impact off the bench. 4.
17. George Rose
Pulled off a great try-saving tackle to deny Sam Moa under the posts but was otherwise largely unseen. 5
