Sitting sixth and seventh on the ladder, the Cowboys and Dolphins can hear the footsteps from a pack of chasers looking to knock them out of the top eight in coming weeks.

The Cowboys are coming off a loss to the Storm and will have to do it without Origin reps Tom Dearden, Reuben Cotter, Reece Robson and Jeremiah Nanai if they are to bounce back in front of their home fans.

The Dolphins come in full of confidence after putting a half century on the Dragons to chalk up their sixth victory of the season but one of their most potent attacking weapons, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, will be in Origin camp with the Maroons.

The two clashes between the sides in 2024 were split - the Cowboys racking up a big win in Round 1 before the Dolphins took revenge in Round 9 with a thrilling 28-26 victory in Townsville.

Team News

Cowboys: A late change with Harrison Edwards making his first run-on start of the season with hooker Karl Lawton shifting back to the bench. Coach Todd Payten confirmed on Friday that Murray Taulagi (calf) and Jason Taumalolo (calf) would return from injury in a major boost to an undermanned side. Back-rower Kai O'Donnell (back) also returns. With a host of stars unavailable, Kaiden Lahrs is set for his NRL debut, while Jake Clifford is back in the halves. Tom Duffy is 18th man.

Dolphins: The Dolphins are 1-17 with no late changes. Ray Stone was a late withdrawal last week but is on track to make his return from a shoulder injury on Saturday night. Max Feagai is also back on deck with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in Maroons camp. Jake Averillo will start at fullback in his place. Sean O'Sullivan is 18th man.
