The Knights have booked a quarter-final meeting with the Eels after scrapping their way to a 21-16 win that ended Wests Tigers' weekend.
Newcastle hooker Danny Levi said his side are looking to constantly improve, as they earned what was an unlikely quarter-finals berth earlier in the tournament.
"We had a really poor start [on Saturday], we didn't come out how we wanted to but I think we have a lot to improve on and still do. We're showing glimpses of what we can do," Levi told NRL.com.
Levi also laughed off his late-game tiff with Tiger Justin Hunt.
"It was pretty hot out there, things certainly got heated but it's the name of the game I suppose," he said.
After a few back-and-forth sets to start the game Josh Addo-Carr showed off his amazing pace to split the Knights midfield and then, stopped but not held, got up to sprint the rest of the way to the corner. Danny Levi then levelled up with a dummy-half scoot and highly dubious grounding that was nevertheless awarded before Robbie Rochow claimed the lead with a barge-over from dummy half in the bonus zone and an 11-4 half-time lead.
Manaia Cherrington's quick tap from a penalty caught the Knights off guard to make it 11-10 before Aku Uate provided his first highlight of the weekend, barrelling over out wide.
Jaelen Feeney sealed the deal with a tricky kick that bounced awkwardly for Cherrington and allowed Jake Mamo to score and make it 21-10. Addo-Carr screamed through on a Jack Littlejohn kick late in the piece for an impressive try but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit, the Tigers going down 21-16.
Speaking after the match, Addo-Carr said nerves got the best of him on Saturday, after showing his worth in Sunday's loss.
"It was good the last game. The first two [games], my nerves got the best of me but from there they went away," he told NRL.com, after scoring twice in the 21-16 defeat.
"Especially playing in this environment and a big crowd like this, I need to start getting used to it so I can perform better."
