Defending premiers Mackay Cutters will have their 2014 credentials put to the ultimate test in the opening fortnight of the Intrust Super Cup following the release of the season draw by the Queensland Rugby League.

The Cutters will host Easts Tigers in a grand final rematch in Round 1 in Mackay and then be the first Queensland-based side to head to Kokopo in Papua New Guinea to take on the new additions. The PNG team have been drawn to play Redcliffe in Redcliffe in Round 1 which will be the Channel Nine match of the round and mark the start of an exciting new chapter for the Intrust Super Cup.

There are plenty of familiar faces getting ready to make the mark on the Intrust Super Cup with coach Ivan Henjak and CEO Chris Flannery piloting the Sunshine Coast season, Shaun McRae returning from England to oversee operations at Tweed Heads, Scott Sattler joining Burleigh as an assistant coach, former Sharks prop Jon Green joining Redcliffe and former Cowboys and Origin star Josh Hannay taking the reins as coach of Souths Logan Magpies.

The Intrust Super Cup will kick off on the weekend of March 1-2, one week before both the NRL and NSW Cup competitions commence, with the 2014 premiers to play off against their NSW Cup counterparts on NRL Grand Final day for interstate bragging rights.

Other highlights of the Intrust Super Cup calendar include games featuring Burleigh against PNG and Wynnum-Manly taking on Norths on Anzac Day, XXXX Rivalry Round in Round 10 and Country Week in Round 23, with games to be played throughout regional areas of Queensland.
