After a tough opening round loss at home to Canberra, Sharks hooker Michael Ennis says Friday night's clash with Brisbane can't come soon enough.
The Sharks lacked a little bit of cohesion and a lot of discipline in their upset 24-20 loss, after leading for a time in the second half having bounced back from a very poor first half.
New Cronulla five-eighth Ben Barba came in for some criticism after a mixed game, but Ennis said the side as a whole needed time to work on combinations.
"You need to [develop combinations] on the field and fortunately for us we haven't got a long wait, back into it on Friday against a side that's going to be very hungry for a Round 2 win as well so it'll be a good clash," Ennis told NRL.com.
"It's a game we need to be honest; we need back-to-back games, we need footy together and I can't wait already... We're a week away from turning some form around."
The match represents a quick reunion with his old Brisbane teammates for Broncos discard Barba.
Fellow ex-Bronco Gerard Beale also has an eye on playing his mates at the club that gave him his NRL start in 2009.
"The Broncos [this Friday] will be big too. I know a lot of those boys and I know they're going to bounce back hard because they had a tough game [on Thursday against the Rabbitohs] and it should be a good game," Beale told NRL.com.
Beale also backed Barba to improve against his former club.
"He's a talented player and he's a professional. I know next week he'll be looking forward to having a big game against the Broncos," Beale said.
For his part, Barba insisted it was time everyone got over focusing on his departure from Brisbane, labelling it just another game.
"I was asked [about playing the Broncos] all pre-season after I was let go but I'm over what happened there and I've got a job here at Cronulla as the five-eighth and they're my only focus really," Barba said after the loss to Canberra.
"I treat this game the same as [Canberra]. We'll do our homework and hopefully come out a bit better next week against Brisbane.
"I'm over it and I think people need to move on from it."
