The big moments from Australia's 50-0 World Cup win over Ireland.

Zero minutes: After the two anthems, a minute's silence is observed for the passing away of former Irish and Engish international Steve Prescott.

2nd minute: And Australia are up and running already. Their first set ends with a right side shift to Brent Tate who cuts through the line and puts Jarryd Hayne for a short sprint down the sideline. Smith misses from the corner, but the Aussies are out to an early 4-0 lead.

11th minute: The home side is getting caned in the penalties, and it wasn't going to be long until the Aussies made them pay. Cooper Cronk dummies right then puts the foot down and force his way over. Smith's attempt at goal sneaks in, extending the lead to 10-0

22nd minute: A promising movement down Ireland's right side ends with Damien Blanch getting a bad pass over the sideline. Slowly building into a rhythm here, the co-hosts.

26th minute: Daly Cherry-Evans tries to fool them from dummy half but gets held up in goal.

29th minute: Cherry-Evans gets his lollies this time, putting a Greg Bird through a hole untouched. Smith adds the extras and lead 16-0

32nd minute: And the Aussies go back-to-back off more penalties against the Wolfhounds, as Brett Morris reacts first to a ricochet off a Slater grubber and slices his way through to score. Smith's kick goes in off the upright and the visitors are now up 22-0

39th minute: Ireland captain Finn gets called out by the referee after conceding their ninth penalty. For the record, the count stands at 9-1 to Australia.

40th minute: Three play later and a right side movement that starts with Smith and continues with Cooper Cronk, ends with Slater showing good speed. Smith misses, but Australia head into halftime with a 26-0 lead. For the record, Ireland will now have to win by 51 to make the quarter-finals.

42nd minute: For the first time in the match, Ireland have the ball in Australia's danger zone but the ball hits the grass.

50th minute: The Aussies have yet to threaten in the second half, and they're turned away again here, with fullback Scott Grix forcing Jayne into touch.

57th minute: Cronk opens Australia's account in the second half, or has he? With Cronk at second receiver and Corey Parker at first, the video ref looks at a decoy run by Myles but there's nothing to it. Parker pops it over from in front and the Irish now face a 0-32 scoreline

60th minute: Outstanding individual effort from Cherry-Evans there. Seeing some space behind the line, he deftly grubbers and no one else was going to get it before him. Parker converts, and it's now blown out to 38-0. Will it be 50? 60? 70?

65th minute: Paul Gallen does his best Cameron Smith impersonation, jumping out of dummy half before finding a steaming Andrew Fifita to score under the black dot. Parker keeps his perfect record intact, it's 44-0

73rd minute: In keeping pattern with the match, more penalties given away by Ireland results in Hayne's second try, easily stepping one defender and touching down. Parker's extras get Australia to 50-0 and that's how it ends. It wasn't as easy as the scoreline suggests, with the Wolfhounds defending stoutly at different stages.
