Sharks stand-in captain Wade Graham has summed up his team's current form as "frustrating" following their 18-0 loss to the Rabbitohs on Monday night.
While the Sharks were undoubtedly up against it with their two Origin representatives Paul Gallen and Luke Lewis missing and a long list of casualties to boot, Graham lamented that things are clearly not going the Sharks way at the moment as they fell to their ninth loss in 11 games.
"We're trying hard and every time we go out on the field and we train we're looking to improve, but a night like tonight where we had a very great milestone in Johnny Morris' 300th game ... It was just frustrating," Graham said.
"I think we're trying really hard. They're working hard at training, they're trying hard but they just weren't good enough and we are terribly busted as well and in conjunction with that we can't buy a trick off the referee or anything like that, so it goes hand-in-hand I think," Sharp said.
"When you're in a dark place, you're down on execution and we didn't execute well tonight and we weren't terribly smart in patches either so it all adds up at the end of the day."
Sharp will be thanking his lucky stars that the bye beckons for his side in Round 12 after injury cruelled another poor performance, with Ricky Leutele and Sosaia Feki going off injured during the game and David Fifita failing to make it through the warm-up.
"It makes it terribly hard when you lose an edge and you have two back-rowers playing in the centres. We don't think they're too bad, so we think they'll be alright for St George [in two weeks] but we'll see how they go with the scans and so forth," Sharp said.
There is light at the end of the tunnel for the Sharks fans though, with Sharp reporting that NSW and Australian representative Andrew Fifita will go very close to returning to the side for their next start against the Dragons in a fortnight.

Sharp noted that Fifita has healed remarkably well from the syndesmosis injury he suffered against the Eels in Round 9.
