Jayson Bukuya has signed a two-year deal to re-join the Cronulla Sharks following a single season in Auckland with the Warriors.
Bukuya, 25, was released by the New Zealand-based outfit on compassionate grounds, allowing the second-rower to return to Sydney for personal reasons with a year still to run on his deal with the Warriors.
Speaking to Sharks TV, Bukuya said it was positive to be back at a club he knows well, having made 59 first grade appearances for Cronulla from 2008 to 2013.
"It's good to be back. It's always good to see familiar faces, but there are a lot of young players here now too. It will be good to see how the year goes," Bukuya said.
His last appearance at Remondis Stadium was in Round 5, 2014, when the Aspley Norths junior donned the Warriors colours for the first and only time against the Sharks.
"It was different being on the other end last season, that's for sure, but I'm happy to be wearing the blue, black and white again."
While the Sharks finished last on the Telstra Premiership ladder in 2014, Bukuya said he's fit and ready to help lift the side back into calculations for the top eight, a goal that will be even more attainable if the club are able to add a further few players to their roster.
"[I've got] no issues, my body's all good, I'm looking forward to ripping in and hopefully having a good year.
"I've always thought this team could be successful. A couple more recruits and we'll definitely be a competitive team this year."
