The Brisbane Broncos may have registered a dominant 26-0 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night, but it was not enough to satisfy coach Wayne Bennett, with the master coach voicing his frustration after his team's 'disjointed performance'.
Bennett was not in the mood to talk to the media post-match, noticeably irritated with his side's lacklustre performance.
It took until the last ten minutes for Brisbane to put the Dragons away, with errors and penalties frustrating the home side throughout the match.
The Broncos failed to take their chances in the first half, only leading 12-0 at half-time after enjoying over 60 per cent of possession.
"I didn't like the way we played tonight. It was a disjointed game," Bennett said.
"It was a better second half, but we didn’t really put it together in the first half. It was well into the game before we put them away and that was the most frustrating part for me.
"We kept them in the game, but to their credit we didn't let them back in. We lost a game to Penrith three weeks ago because we couldn't close the game out and that didn't happen tonight.
"The completions were high and it needed to be like that. We would have been beaten tonight if they weren’t like that.
"We couldn't get the momentum and the game wasn't flowing for us. It was stop-start and there were a lot of penalties and drop balls."
Captain Corey Parker echoed Bennett's thoughts, condemning the Broncos' missed opportunities.
Parker worked hard in a typically solid performance, amassing 167 run metres and 26 tackles for the match.
"I think we landed the killer punch in about the 70th minute. For us, we had to be patient. It was an ugly game and we had to stick at it. I thought we did that," Parker said.
"We had some opportunities where we could have done some things a lot better, but we still iced the game and came away with a couple of late tries."
Brisbane now sit atop the NRL ladder in what is a stark contrast to the team they defeated.
The Dragons' loss condemned them to a second-straight scoreless defeat after a 36-0 loss to the North Queensland Cowboys last weekend.
St George Illawarra are now left languishing on two wins for the season after having only scored 40 points in six games this year.
